Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien - Update 1 - 1:30pm
Nickol residents in Leonard Way may be experiencing a temporary interruption to their water supply due to damaged water mains in the area caused by severe Tropical Cyclone Damien.
Water Corporation crews are undertaking emergency repairs to these mains today as well as inspecting the West Pilbara Water Supply Scheme for other possible damage.
The West Pilbara Water Supply Scheme covers Karratha, Dampier, Roebourne, Cape Lambert, Wickham and Point Samson.
There are currently no reported customer issues with the wastewater system in Karratha, Dampier, Wickham, Roebourne, Point Samson, Port Hedland, South Hedland or Onslow.
Water Corporation is reminding residents to stay well away from stormwater drains, which can be fast flowing and dangerous, and may contain unknown contaminants that have washed into them.
It is also reminding customers living in coastal towns in the Pilbara to switch off their sprinkler reticulation systems – which should not be needed for at least the next few days after gardens received a free drink from Damien.
Water Corporation customers are encouraged to continue to report any water or wastewater faults to its 24 hour Operations Centre on 13 13 75.
