Since 1 July 2022 to date, we have used 29.9 billion litres of water – which is 1.1 billion litres below the forecast target for this period.
Dam levels (total for 15 dams)
The dam storage levels are slightly up on last week and are sitting at a combined 60 per cent* of full capacity.
*Please note some dams are filled from different sources - dam levels include the transfer of groundwater and desalinated seawater from treatment plants as well as streamflow (that comes from rainfall). As we use many different sources of water, dams are no longer an accurate indicator of the health of Perth's overall water supply situation.
Streamflow (total for 15 dams)
From 1 May 2022, the dams have received 40.5 billion litres of streamflow. The post-1975 average for the May to April period (called the streamflow year) is 173.9 billion litres.
Sprinkler roster compliance
Since 1 January 2022, we have taken a total of 3,662 actions (warnings + fines) compared with 4,290 actions for the same period in 2021.
Annual rainfall
Perth has received 540.4mm of rainfall since 1 January 2022. The average (1876-2016) rainfall for the same period to the end of August is 676.5mm.
General water news
Have you ever wondered what a fully electric and sustainable home would look like?
Development WA and Peet have just opened Australia's highest rated energy efficient home in Brabham in Perth's east featuring a NatHERS rating of 9.2 (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme).
The display house has been built to help educate Western Australians on the benefits of sustainable design, construction, and living, and features a Home Energy Management System with energy efficient appliances, solar power, and a waterwise garden to name a few.
Water Corporation helped inform the waterwise design elements of the garden which feature a rainwater harvesting tank, waterwise plants, drought tolerant lawn, and a worm farm. A smart irrigation controller and WI-FI enabled water meter has also be installed to automatically adjust the amount of water the garden receives based on local weather data from a nearby weather station.
