Bushfire update – City of Wanneroo and City of Swan
Helping manage spot fires at Water Corporation’s Wanneroo Groundwater Treatment Plant (23 November 2023)
Scheme water supply to homes and businesses across Perth remains secure following significant bushfires in Wanneroo.
There are no reports of supply interruptions in the affected area and water storage levels are stable.
Our crews are working to reinstate damaged water production assets in the fire zone, while ensuring uninterrupted water supply to firefighters and the broader community.
Water Corporation would like to thank DFES and all those involved in the emergency response. We would also like to thank our operations staff and crews on the ground for their work to maintain water supply.
Our thoughts remain with those affected, and a further support to impacted customers will be made available in coming days.

Firefighters at Water Corporation’s Wanneroo Groundwater Treatment Plant

Water Corporation is continuing to prioritise water supply to firefighters despite damage to water infrastructure in and around Wanneroo.
To help, we are asking people living in central northern suburbs to please avoid unnecessary or excessive water use. Suburbs include:
- Yokine
- Tuart Hill
- Dianella
- Bedford
- Embleton
- Noranda
- Nollamara
- Balcatta
- Hammersley
- Carine
- Watermans Bay
- North Beach
- Warwick
- Bayswater
- Maylands
There is no general risk of a water supply interruption, but we do ask people to be mindful of their water use to ensure ample supply to our firefighters.
You can help by skipping a watering day, avoiding washing cars or filling pools and keeping shower times to four minutes

Residential and business customers across Perth are being asked to avoid unnecessary or excessive water use, to help support the lifesaving work by firefighters in Perth’s north.
While Water Corporation is maintaining supply to firefighters and the community in the fire zone, pressure is being placed on the wider Perth network, following damage to water supply infrastructure in and around Wanneroo.
There is no general risk to water supply continuity but we do ask people to please be mindful of their water use to ensure ample supply to those who need it most.

Water Corporation is working to support emergency services battling bushfires in Perth’s north.
We are not currently experiencing significant water supply outages or impacts to customers, however, the situation is fast moving and we are continuing to closely monitor our supply network.
Our Wanneroo Groundwater Treatment Plant was impacted by the fire and is currently offline. We are moving water from storage reservoirs further south to maintain supply to the community and firefighters.
With hot conditions forecast to remain over the coming days, please limit excessive or unnecessary water use to help maintain uninterrupted supply to emergency services.
While we are well prepared, we can’t guarantee water pressure or supply during a bushfire. Loss of power can cause water pumps to stop, and we may not be able to access infrastructure in areas deemed unsafe.
