Enjoy summer at Harvey Dam safely and responsibly
As we welcome visitors to Harvey Dam this summer, Water Corporation and the Shire of Harvey remind everyone to enjoy the beautiful facilities and freshwater fishing opportunities responsibly. To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all, please adhere to the following rules:
- No Camping: Overnight stays are not permitted.
- No Fires: Open flames and campfires are strictly prohibited.
- No Power Boats: Only non-motorized watercraft are allowed
Water Corporation Southwest Regional Manager, Nicky Waite, said Harvey Dam is a day-use facility designed for everyone to enjoy but it’s up to the whole community to keep it safe and pristine.
“Harvey Dam has great facilities for everyone so please follow the rules and take your rubbish home with you at the end of the day,” Ms Waite said.
“There’s no camping at the dam, and it is unsafe to light fires.”
Logs have been installed as barriers preventing unauthorised four-wheel drive access near a boat ramp at the dam.
“We ask drivers to stick to designated areas and stay off the dam bank walls. Your safety is our concern.” Ms Waite said.
Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development rangers will continue to monitor out-of-season marron fishing and check fishing licences and catches.
Shire of Harvey President Cr Michelle Campbell said the Shire was working closely with Water Corporation and other agencies to ensure community members can access and enjoy Harvey Dam safely this summer.
“Harvey Dam is a great place to visit with family and friends, but we need to do it responsibly,” Cr Campbell said.
“We can all play a part in safety at Harvey Dam by observing signage in the area and following site rules.”
Visitors should report antisocial behaviour at the dam to the WA Police on 131444 and report littering to Keep Australia Beautiful 1300 007 376.
