Northam Clarke St pump station upgrade
Project goal:

Status:
In construction.
Delivery Date:

What's happening?
The wastewater pump station at Clarke Street is aging and requires upgrades. This work will help to improve the reliability of the Northam wastewater system. To enable the pump station upgrades the existing building will need to be removed.
These upgrades include:
- Demolition and replacement of the existing pump station building with a concrete slab and above ground cabinets.
- Replacement of pumping, pipework, and electrical infrastructure.
- Replacement of bollards around the perimeter.
- New signage and installation of heritage interpretive signage.
Heritage Considerations?
We recognise that the pump station building has European heritage value to the local community. We have worked with the Shire of Northam and the Heritage Council of WA to confirm the heritage approval processes are followed.
This has included:
- Photographic archival record has prepared by independent consultant
- Demolition approval received by the WA Heritage Council
- Employing an architect to design interpretive signage to commemorate the WWPS and its role in the development of Northam.
When is this happening?
Work on the pump station commenced in October 2023, and is expected to be complete in early 2025.
Where is this happening?
The wastewater pump station is in public open space between the Avon River and Clarke Street near to Northam Senior High School. The location of the works is shown below.
How will this impact me?
During this time you may notice increased vehicle activity and noise. We will strive to minimise this noise and complete the work as quickly as possible.
We appreciate construction work can be impactful, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation whilst this essential work is carried out.
